  • Kangaroo suede! There is a richness to the colour that you just don't get in other suede leathers. Completely packable and like most of our Roo hats the SOUTHERN CROSS is light and strong. We added our own unique slash line to the side of the crown and set the air vents in the shape of, you guessed it, the Southern Cross constellation. The brim is held by a mono filament (really thick fishing line) and we completed the look by using our round braid for the hat band.

    Understanding the Roo
    There are over 100 different species of kangaroo in Australia, none of which can be farmed, and with the larger herds consisting predominantly of the Reds and Greys. The government permits only licensed hunters under strict supervision to cull these herds and only in overpopulated areas. Kangaroo leather is renowned for its tensile strength and ultra lightweight. As all kangaroos are from the wild, scarring on the leather is characteristic.

    We recommend that you use a suede dressing when you first purchase this hat.
    To clean, brush off surface dirt using a soft brush or wipe with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
    Ensure that the leather is not subjected to extreme heat.
